How to Buy a New 3DS XL for $100

Nintendo's New 3DS XL will cost $200 when it's released in February, but you can pick up a unit for half that price at GameStop, provided you have a qualifying old system you want to trade in.
GameStop on Wednesday announced that shoppers who trade in a Nintendo 3DS XL or a PlayStation Vita toward the preorder of a New Nintendo 3DS XL will receive $100 in store credit. Alternatively, you can trade in a Nintendo 3DS or 2DS to receive $75 in credit applied toward a New 3DS XL.
That means you'll be able to pick up a New 3DS XL for $100-$125, before tax, depending on which system you decide to trade in. What's more, this offer applies to all versions of the New 3DS, including the multiple special editions.
The pre-order incentive begins now at GameStop stores across the United States or online. You'll need to make a $50 deposit to secure a unit.
GameStop is also the exclusive seller of the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate Edition New Nintendo 3DS XL bundle, which was announced earlier today during a Nintendo Direct. The unit, which comes with a specially designed system and a pre-loaded copy of the game, is available for preorder now at GameStop.

$250k Counter-Strike Tournament Plans to Be "World's Largest"

eSports giant ESL is making preparations to host what it is calling the “world's largest" Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament, with as much as $250,000 on offer in prize money.
The tournament is part of a partnership agreement between ESL and custodians of the Lanxess arena in Cologne. The event will run from August 22-23, taking place a few weeks after Gamescom.
ESL's description of the event being the “world’s largest" is based on its assumption that it will allure enough people to the stadium, which can seat at least 15,000 people.
On four occasions in the past two years, the ESL has held Counter-Strike tournaments with $250,000 on offer in cash prizes. Recently the eSport has been plagued by claims of match fixing, with Valve initiatingsweeping bans to numerous teams and individuals.
The full $250,000 this year will be provided by the ESL. Finer details of tournament structure and qualifying rules will be announced at a later date, but ESL says the tournament will feature 16 finalists.

Battlefield 4: DICE Needs Your Help To Make The Game's Next Map

Late last year, Battlefield developer DICE teased plans to offer even more Battlefield 4 DLC, but at the time, didn't say much about the form this content would take. Now, the studio has shed more light on the matter, announcing this week a first-of-its-kind campaign that will give Battlefield fans a chance to build Battlefield 4's next map together with DICE.
"You will get to shape a playable map based on your input and expertise on what makes a fun multiplayer level," developer DICE LA wrote on the Battlefield website.
DICE will start with a "blank canvas," and fans will get to decide what final form it takes. This map will be tested and tweaked on Battlefield 4's Community Test Environment by Battlefield 4 Premium subscribers.
Players will get to directly submit feedback to DICE LA regarding the new map. In addition, the studio will share "behind-the-scenes details" of what exactly it takes to build a Battlefield 4 multiplayer map from the ground up. A teaser video is available above.
The "Community Map" (hopefully its name changes for final release) will eventually be released for all Battlefield 4 players across console and PC as a free download. You can submit your feedback for this new map right now through the Battlefield 4 forums.
So far, players have already submitted ideas such as lockable doors, driveable submarines, and more. What would you like to see from a new Battlefield 4 map?
In addition, DICE LA has announced that it will release a "Winter Patch" for Battlefield 4 in March. This update, which follows the game's massive "Fall Patch," will offer tweaks to netcode and solider collision, and it also offers new changes to the Squad Obliteration game mode.
"Our ambition with Squad Obliteration is to create something fast and challenging for the players and an entertaining experience for those who watch the matches," DICE said.
While DICE LA continues to support Battlefield 4, Visceral Games is closing in on releasing Battlefield Hardline next month. Meanwhile, Battlefield 5 (or whatever EA decides to call the game) is in development and will be released in 2016. Main Battlefield studio DICE in Sweden is also working on Star Wars: Battlefront for release later this year.
